The Coptic Orthodox Church is one of the oldest denominations of the Christian Churches dating back to 42 A.D. after having been founded by Saint Mark the Apostle, in the vast territory of Ancient Egypt. The words "Egyptian" and "Coptic" comes from Greek word Αἴγυπτος (Phonetically pronounced as Aigyptos). Which was in turn derived from the Ancient Egyptian (Hieroglyphics) language word "Hikaptah", one of the myriad of names for the first capital of Primordial Egypt, Memphis. Thus giving us the words Egyptian and Coptic. As a Coptic Orthodox Church, the community continues to preserve an almost 2000 year old tradition. Whilst staying true, unaltered, and perpetual to the traditions of Early Christianity, Apostolic Doctrines, and Patterns of Worship.
