Specialties
At Apicha Community Health Center, our mission is to provide high quality, equitable, whole person, and culturally responsive care delivered in an inclusive and welcoming manner. We aim to build and expand on our long tradition of care for AAPI, LGBTQ+, and persons living with HIV.

History
Established in 1989.

Formerly named Asian and Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS, we were founded in 1989 to address unmet HIV/AIDS-related needs of Asians and Pacific Islanders in New York City. Founding an LGBT Center Our founders worked with Native American leaders to disaggregate "Asians and Pacific Islanders" and "Native Americans" from an "Other" category in HIV/AIDS surveillance data. Their successful advocacy opened the doors to government and private funding streams that enabled us to build a continuum of HIV/AIDS services, starting with prevention education and outreach to HIV primary care. Evolving to a Community Health Center In 2009 after two decades of HIV-focused practice, we expanded our nationally recognized HIV care model to include general primary care. This expansion initially included offering primary care to HIV-negative people who were at high risk for HIV, which then led to the establishment of an LGBT clinic, an STI clinic, and Hepatitis screening, immunization and treatment.
